Belated 10 month post

This is a very belated post due to the fact that we we were in California for his 10 month birthday!!  

Weight: At his 9 month appt he weighed 20 lbs 6 oz.   I really thought he was going to be weighing a little more, but he is still eating like a champ. 

Clothes:  Mostly size 12 months, a few 9 month still.  We are fully in size 4 pamper's diapers now. 

Sleep: Still sleeping about 10 1/2 hours with one wake up on good nights.  Every once in awhile we have a rough night, but usually not too bad.. 

Eating:  Solids and breastmilk is Ethan's diet!!  I am so happy that we are still breastfeeding, trying to make it to a year.  He is eating 3 meals a day and usually loves food.  He is definitely letting us know more when he doesn't want something by throwing it on the floor! 

Looks:   Blonde blue eyed handsome little boy!

Milestones:  Crawling everywhere, standing for a few seconds without assistance, climbing everywhere, saying mama and dada, lots of babbling, and we are up to 7 teeth now - he had 4 more teeth come in this month - poor kid!

 Firsts: first words, first flight, first trip to California, first circus, first time swimming in a baby pool, first time swimming in a hotel pool, first time swimming in a lake, first graduation party, first "horse" ride (mechanical horse), first time on the Golden Gate Bridge

What we are looking forward to: all the fun activities this summer!

What we are dreading: more teeth coming in...

Favorite moment this month - our trip to California!!!!  He did awesome!

Food that he eats - So, he eats so many different foods now that I don't really keep track of them any more! The big new foods this month were mac and cheese and scrambled eggs! 

This month's miscellaneous - Unfortunately we lost his favorite toy "shovel" on our trip to California...sad....he also loves empty pop/water bottles!

Other big news of this month - Ethan got to meet paramedics and firefighters for the first time this month - and not in a very good way.  On the last day of school (with kids) I was getting Ethan ready and set him on the double bed in his room like normal.  He was crawling around and turned to sit up and was too close to the edge.  He fell backwards and hit his head on the floor.  He cried and I started comforting him.  He then started throwing up and I got really scared so I called 911 - didn't know what else to do!  The paramedics were very nice and told me he seemed fine and just to take him into the dr when they opened.  I took him into the urgent care clinic and they said just to keep an eye on him. So, he got to spend the day with Momma Morai.  Needless to say I missed giving my last final and was very shook up.  He ended up being fine - but definitely a scary mommy moment!  I am sure he was really scared too.  I am glad everything turned out ok.

9 months old

Well 8 months was the month of mobility for Ethan.  He went from only rocking on his hands and knees and "worming" at the beginning of the month to full out crawling, pulling up and standing on everything, and even "walking" while holding onto something.  We have finally put the two baby gates up (one at the stairs and one between the living room and kitchen).  We love hearing the sound of his laugh, and he is usually a very happy and content baby.  He loves to climb all over mom and dad (who needs toys, haha). He loves to play!

Weight: We went to the breastfeeding clinic a few weeks ago and he was almost 20 lbs.  We have our 9 month dr appt on May 8.

Clothes:  Mostly 6-9's and 12 month clothes.  We are moving up slowly to 12 month clothes.  We won't be needing the long sleeve outfits much longer.  This has been such a warm winter and spring that he never wore a few of his true winter clothes.  He is wearing size 3 diapers during the day and 4 at night.  He needs to move to size 4's fully, but I want to make it through the 3's I have!  He is very proportionate and looks great!

Sleep: Sleep was quite a bit better this month.  We went back to waking up usually once, maybe twice a night, eating, and then going right back to sleep.  That I can handle!  He nurses really well whenever he eats mid night, so I'm not going to take that away from him.  Naps still aren't the greatest.  He is getting better about not fighting so much to go to sleep, but he has stopped sleeping on his own even at daycare.  I have decided that operation nap is going to start this week.  I know he can fall asleep on his own, I just have to teach him to do it.  When he is at home, he takes two naps, about 2 hours after he wakes up, around 1, then around 4:30.  During the week, he sometimes takes his morning nap at daycare, then takes a nap around 1, then another with us at home around 4:45.  He seems to needs the naps, so I wonder when he will start taking fewer naps....

Eating:  Still going strong with breastfeeding and solids!!  He eats about 12 at daycare while I am at work.  I pump at work and am still not keeping up, but thank goodness for my freezer stash.  I am so happy that I have been able to keep him breastfeeding, it works great for us.  My original goal was 6 months, then when I made it there, I said 9 months, now I would like to make a year, but we will see.  It might be easier when school is out, and we only have 4 more weeks of that!  He loves his solids, but we are still only giving him lunch and dinner.  Not sure when we will start 3 meals a day.  He likes pretty much everything we give him. 

Looks:   Still doesn't have much hair, but the hair he does have is getting a little darker, but still blonde.  Of course he has those beautiful blue eyes! 

Milestones:  Started with going from stomach to sitting the last weekend in March, then by the next week he was crawling, and then Easter weekend he learned to pull up to standing.  He is now totally mobile and hates to stay in one place very long.  He has also learned to climb stairs, very nerve racking for mom!  Another tooth popped through today (4-28 - left lateral incisor). 

Firsts: first time to attend a wedding, first time to go to a friend's birthday party, first Easter, first time to hunt Easter eggs (he found one and then was perfectly happy to just play with it), first time to eat Great Grandma's homeade noodles, first bump on the head.

What we are looking forward to: dad's birthday on Monday, going to see his new cousin Charlotte, mom being done with school for the year, and going to see Uncle Lester in California at the very end of May!

What we are dreading: the possibility that Ethan will not like flying...

Favorite moment this month - watching him learn how to crawl and listening to all the new sounds he is making (still not really saying any words, he says momma when he cries, haha!). 

Food that he eats - He loves pretty much everything, for some reason he didn't like the latest batch of sweet potatoes I made.  I am making 95% of his food and really enjoy doing it.  This month he has had pumpkin, pears, mashed potatoes, homeade noodles, broccoli (pictures to follow of him eating his as a finger food, haha - it usually ends up everywhere including in his ears and hair!), cantaloupe (not a huge fan, but he will eat it), pasta, toast, watermelon, asparagus (he loves this as a finger food), and ground beef today! It is so fun to watch him eating things as finger foods.  He is getting really good at it but still likes purees. 

This month's miscellaneous - He loves playing with pretty much any toy, but this month's favorites are his alligator toy and the shovel that Granny gave him for Easter! Also, now that you know how to stand, you love going to the front door and standing at the glass door and look out!

8 months old!

Ethan has always been great to have around, but the older he gets, the more fun he gets to play and interact with.  He has such a personality and would love to be in on every single conversation if only he knew how to talk, haha.  He is very stubborn, and likes to make himself known.  Our daycare lady says he has one volume - loud!  You still aren't saying words, but definitely love to babble and yell.  We love him so much!!

Weight: I haven't been in to have him weighed in a long time, but last night we weighed him on our scale at home and he was about 20 and 1/2 pounds. 

Clothes:  Same as last month, mostly 6-9's with a few 6 month and a few 12 month clothes....I still wish clothes were a common size.  It is still sad to me whenever he grows out of my favorite outfits!  He is wearing pampers size 3 diapers during the day, and pampers size 4 during the night.  He also wears target size 3 during the day, but babies r us had a huge sale on pampers the other day, we so stocked up on those!

Sleep:  Oh sleep...there were times this month where I was despising night times, because I had no idea what they would bring.  The one positive we have usually had is that after I nurse him in the evenings, he would fall asleep right away.  This didn't happen a few times this month, which just made the night wake ups even worse.  He has been up to eat about 2 times during the night this month, but luckily for the most part once he eats, he goes right back to sleep.  I have considered trying to get him to go back to sleep without eating, but this momma needs her sleep with working full time, and just simply feeding him is so much easier!  He usually goes to bed around 7 pm and a good morning is when he sleeps until I have to wake him up at 6:40 to get ready for the day. 

Eating:  Still going strong with breastfeeding and solids!!  He eats about 12-16 oz at daycare while I am at work and then 4 -5times with me at home.  He eats a meal of solids at lunch and dinner each about an hour after a bottle or nursing session to make sure he keeps up with the nursing.  I am having trouble keeping up with pumping at work, but luckily I have enough of a stash built up that we are ok for now.  One of the reasons I think he has been up so much at night is that he is so busy during the day it is a huge inconvenience for him to have to stop to drink a bottle.  We still want breastmilk to be his main nutrition, so we want to offer it before meals, not with meals.  If we let him, he would totally eat solids, he loves them!! 

Looks:   A little more blonde hair, and the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen. 

Milestones:  He isn't crawling yet, but he is doing what I like to call the "worm" (he can get anywhere he wants, and fairly quickly as well).  He also can go from sitting to his stomach quite easily. 

Firsts: many new foods, playing in the grass

What we are looking forward to: family wedding this weekend and new baby cousin on the way

What we are dreading: still waiting for more teeth!

Favorite moment this month - watching him interact with all the people around him and be so aware of what is going on.  He is such a flirt with waitresses and loves kids!

Food that he eats - He loves food (which isn't shocking considering how much his parents love food, haha!)  He has eaten every thing we given him without much of a fight.  New foods this month have been oatmeal, peas, butternut squash, mango, plums, puffs, and yellow squash.  He is getting so much better at eating the puffs.

7 months old!

Another month gone by - our baby is growing up so much, and we are having so much fun!!

Weight: He has really slowed down on the weight gain, but he is eating perfect amounts, he is just such an active baby! 

Clothes:  Pampers size 3's - Mostly 6-9's with a few 6 month and a few 12 month clothes....oh how I wish there was a common sizing for clothes!

Sleep:  This month was big as we moved Ethan down to his crib on February 4th.  He had been sleeping upstairs in our closet in the cradle then the pack and play, but we decided it was time to move him down to his own room and he does great!  Sleep is still inconsistent (he seems to change every week), but for the most part his bedtime routine is very consistent with pj's, sleep sack, nursing, and then laying in his crib and falling right to sleep.  He still naps decent at daycare and ok at home. 

Eating:  Still going strong with breastfeeding and now solids!!  He eats about 16 oz at daycare while I am at work and then 4 times with me at home.  He eats a meal of solids at lunch and dinner each about an hour after a bottle or nursing session to make sure he keeps up with the nursing.  I am having trouble keeping up with pumping at work, but luckily I have enough of a stash built up that we are ok for now.

Looks:   Blonde hair and awesome blue eyes - that is what people comment on the  most!

Milestones:  Sleeping in his crib in his own bedroom, getting up on all 4's and rocking (not crawling yet, but he really wants to), baths in his duck tub instead of the infant tub.

Firsts: First solid food, first time sleeping in his own bedroom, first valentine's day, first basketball game (we went to a game while we were visiting Granny and Grandpa in Bird City - it was way past his bedtime and he was very overwhelmed by all the sound!), first baby shower, first non family member babysitter (Jed and I went out for the evening and we had a college aged girl that we know babysit - he did great!)

What we are looking forward to: continuing to try new foods, spring break, and consignment sale!

What we are dreading:  this 3rd tooth that is trying to come in - he is drooling every where!  Also the separation anxiety that is starting - he is starting to realize when I leave the room, and he doesn't like it!

Favorite moment this month - Watching him interact with the workbench that his grandparents gave him - he is so smart!

Food that he eats - First month of purees went great - he liked almost everything, and tolerated everything.  He had sweet potato, avocado (which is his favorite), banana, zucchini (the food he tolerates, he will only really eat it if it is mixed with something), rice cereal, rice crackers, carrots, apples, and green beans.  Next up are peas and pears.
